Uploading Files

Add files to your workspace using drag and drop or the upload dialog.

In addition to creating rich text editor documents, you can upload files of any type directly into the Documents app. Uploaded files live alongside editor documents in the same folder structure and benefit from the same permissions, tagging, and project integration features.

Drag and Drop Upload

The fastest way to upload files is to drag them directly from your computer onto the Documents app. A blue overlay will appear indicating where files will be uploaded.

Using the Upload Dialog

  1. Click the + button in the file tree toolbar
  2. Select Upload Files from the dropdown
  3. Either drag files into the dropzone or click to browse
  4. Select a destination folder using the path selector
  5. Click Upload to begin the transfer

Upload Progress

During upload, you'll see:

  • Individual progress bars for each file
  • Completion status indicators (green checkmark for success)
  • Error messages if any uploads fail

Handling Duplicates

When uploading a file with the same name as an existing file in the same folder:

  • A warning dialog appears explaining the duplicate
  • Choose Continue and Create New Versions to add the files as new versions of the existing documents
  • Choose Cancel to abort the upload

This auto-versioning means you can update files simply by uploading a new copy with the same filename.

File Size Limits

By default, files can be up to 100 MB in size. Administrators can adjust this limit in the workspace settings under Settings > General > Files.

Supported File Types

The Documents app supports all common file types including:

CategoryExtensions
DocumentsPDF, DOC, DOCX, TXT, RTF
SpreadsheetsXLS, XLSX, CSV
PresentationsPPT, PPTX
ImagesJPG, PNG, GIF, SVG, WEBP
VideosMP4, MOV, AVI, WEBM
OtherZIP, RAR, JSON, XML

Uploaded files appear in the file tree with type-specific icons and are automatically assigned the appropriate document type (PDF, Image, Video, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or File).
