Create, organize, and manage your project milestones and their component steps.
Working with Milestones
Creating a Milestone
- Click the action menu (three dots) on any existing milestone row
- Select Add Milestone Above or Add Milestone Below to add a new milestone
- Enter a description for your new milestone
Alternatively, use the inline "Add Milestone" row at the bottom of the plan to quickly create new milestones.
Expanding and Collapsing
Click the chevron arrow next to any milestone to show or hide its steps. This helps you focus on specific areas of your project while keeping the big picture in view.
Reordering Milestones
Drag milestones using the grip handle on the left side to reorder them. When you drag a milestone, all its steps move with it.
Working with Steps
Adding a Step
There are multiple ways to add a step:
From a Milestone:
- Click the action menu (three dots) on the milestone
- Select Add Step to add a step as a child of that milestone
From an Existing Step:
- Click the action menu (three dots) on any step
- Select Add Step Above or Add Step Below to insert a new step
Using Inline Add: Use the inline "Add Step" row that appears below steps to quickly create new steps within a milestone.
Editing a Step
Click on any step's sequence number (e.g., "1.1") or description to open the detail page, or select Edit from the action menu to modify:
- Description - What needs to be done
- Parties - Who is responsible (individuals, teams, or organizations)
- Due Date - When it should be completed
- Dependencies - Which steps must be completed first
- Comments - Additional notes or context
You can also edit most fields directly inline by hovering over the cell and clicking the edit icon that appears.
Moving Steps
Use the up/down arrows on each step to reorder within a milestone, or select Move to Milestone from the action menu to move a step to a different milestone.
